Short answer:
I’m a storyteller.
Long(ish) answer:
I grew up in Texas, the daughter of two parents who worked in the music industry. I wanted nothing more than to be a singer/songwriter. Instead, I got married at 20 and had three daughters by age 26.
No regrets.
Eventually I wandered into a career as a music journalist. Over the next decade I’d write for a host of magazines and publications and work for EMI, Sony, and Gaylord Entertainment. Most importantly, it awakened my deep love for writing and I decided to go back to school. To fund it all I turned my photography hobby into a business and graduated from St. Edwards University in 2010 with a BA in English, Writing and Rhetoric. Later that year I went to work for Kirkus Reviews as a project manager. Within two years I’d reviewed hundreds of books and worked with the CEO and editors to launch a more consumer-facing publication. Being both a professional photographer and a writer has its perks. I’ve worked extensively in the travel industry. I’ve also met scores of interesting people and have had the honor of telling their stories. Most of the time it’s a dream job.
I still live in the Texas Hill Country with my husband and FIVE rescue animals.
I spawn girls: my three daughters have five daughters. He has three sons. We are the Brady Bunch.
