Austin's Zilker Kite Festival
The Zilker Kite Festival is the oldest kite festival in the nation. It’s held the first Sunday in March, and though it’s a major hassle to get to (read: there are way too many people in Austin), we always enjoy it once we chill out. I think kite flying is like fishing: it’s something that keeps you in the moment. It’s kind of Zen. If I were to sit in the park doing nothing, I’d probably get restless. But if I’m sitting there holding a kite that’s swaying in the breeze, I’m content. It’s like a reverse anchor. Here are a few of my favorite sights from our day.
